I recently watched the ALMS race at road america on youtube. What I learned from this, aside from the fact that GT racing is the best, and I hate Deltawing, is that there is a "Canada" corner at the track.

Why is there a corner named after my glorious country? How did it get that name?? I tried google, but to no avail.

Doctor of Music May? I doubt he has much time for Chicago. It was Black Stig's choice.

Call them and ask. Probably for the same reason they fly the Canadian flag at Michigan Intl Speedway and sing the Canadian national anthem. Cause a lot of Canadians attend.

story I heard was back in the 60s a group of college kids would always sit at that corner and drink Canadian beer and there would always be empty bottles scattered all over the seating in that corner.

Not sure how accurate the story is, but here is what I found.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

During Road America's first season in 1955, the track owner hired the local Boy Scouts to pick up all the garbage under the grandstands after each event. Among the usual litter were large amounts of empty Canadian beer cans and lots of empty Canadian cigarette packs. The track owner got wind of this and renamed turn twelve, Canada Corner.

Story I've heard is that it points North, and if you miss your braking point you won't stop until you reach Canada.

In the early years at Road America our preferred viewing area was on the outside of corner twelve. Corner twelve, also known as Canada Corner, is located at the extreme northwest corner of the track and is the lowest point on the track. I have heard a couple of different stories as to how corner twelve became known as Canada Corner. The first version is that the first car to pull off in the corner with a mechanical problem was driven by a guy from Canada. The second version is that after the first event at the track in 1955, clean-up crews found huge amounts of empty cans of Canadian beer and lots of empty Canadian cigarette packs. For whatever reason, corner twelve at will always be known as Canada Corner.

According to the map, heading through Kettle Bottoms into Canada Corner you are going north, so this is also plausible.
